A weak squall line developed over the Taiwan straits and moved toward central and southern Taiwan. The P-3 aircraft reached the squall line just before it moved on-shore. The airborne Doppler radar did not operate. The ground-based Doppler radars collected some excellent data on the northern portion of the line as it moved on-shore. The aircraft then flew to a meso-low that had developed on the east side of the island and then flew north and sampled a pre-frontal and frontal squall line that had developed over the ocean, just north of Taiwan.
