An ocean MCS developed near the southeast coast of Taiwan and slowly moved up the coast over the next 24 hours. The first flight was rapidly developing. The ground-based Doppler radars observed the upper levels of the storm over much of the development stage and its movement northward. The next afternoon, a second flight of the P-3 investigated the structure of a meso-low along the northeast coast of Taiwan that had apparently developed in response to the convective system.
